The Seattle Wind Symphony is dedicated to the presentation of professional quality symphonic wind music to the general public, educators and students. Our program philosophy is to perform time tested, professional and compelling literature that is engaging for both audience and musicians alike. The Seattle Wind Symphony endeavors to be an instrument of hope for young musicians by modeling high music and performance standards.

The Young Artist Competition is an extension of this goal. The competition recognizes the solo talent of young woodwind, brass, or percussion players from the state of Washington and presents them in concert with the Wind Symphony. Part of the outreach program of the Seattle Wind Symphony, the Young Artist Competition encourages Washington wind band students to achieve the highest level of musicianship. In addition to performing with the Seattle Wind Symphony the Young Artist is awarded a monetary prize to further their musical education.
